Does Antoine Dodson Actually Make Sense?

He makes a lot of sense.

Were it simply a case of the company having a bigot for a CEO (which it does), then I would say Antoine makes a lot of sense.

However, not only does it have a bigot for a CEO, the company donates money to causes which seek to roll back and prevent the rights of people like Antoine. Every time he gets a sandwich there he is essentially giving a piece of his money to people who want him to be regarded as less of a person.

That being said, America has no shortage of people acting against their own self interest, so I can hardly get mad at one gay man for doing it.

I wrote a really long response to this but when I was done I realized it boiled down to just one idea - personal freedom.

My opinion is that this is an issue of personal freedom and the only way to bring it about is to espouse a political system that demands that. I think what he understands is that it won't matter a hill of beans if he eats there or not so he's going to enjoy it. By not eating at a
place he loves he's only punishing himself and making no difference.

If I look at this issue, the issue of gay marriage, as a political issue, and through the lens of my political beliefs, it's a first principle issue of freedom vs non-freedom.

So the question I ask is, does not going to Chick-fil-a make Antoine more free or less free?

I answer, less free: because he cannot get his sandwich and he loves his sandwich. In the end he ends up without gay marriage and without a sandwich.
