Convincing your girlfriend you're both about to die a horrible death is a great way to ask her to marry you.

Also to get an honest answer you should do it in a place where she could reasonably be in fear for her life if she said "No".

You pretty much just have to decide is your girlfriend more afraid of death or a public humiliation. Then choose the location and performance accordingly.
