Arachnophilia

Spider Wasp, Cryptocheilus bicolor, doing what it does best. They normally target huntsman and big wolf spiders. Bigger the better. If they can't carry them they will chew off the legs to make it easier. This is the third spider I've seen this one take. The others were huntsman but not sure what this is. We watched it drag this spider 10 meters down the path. I missed the best parts of it though. It goes through the same motions every time. Drags the nursery fodder up the wall, gets it's bearings then drags it around to the back wall of the fire pit. Crawls over the wall, drops the spider to check the area, comes back and grabs the spider, drags it into the pre-dug hole and lays an egg on it's ass. We have heaps of insects around here this year. Butterflies, ladybirds, wasps, native bees, mantids, everything. And most of them are pest predators so that's a good thing.
