That's not ice in Iceland ..... they are masses of dead Herring

Thousands of tons of herring died in the fjord Kolgrafafjordur, Snaefellsnes Peninsula, Iceland in the beginning of February 2013. Only recently, some 30,000 tons died at the same site on December 13th 2012 because of oxygen deprivation. This also seems to be the same case now. These unusual events have drawn tens of thousands of birds, and fish oil from the decaying herring might threaten these birds in the coming weeks and months.
