Czech Republic: President gets the middle finger

Artist David Cerny has given the Czech parliament the middle finger, quite literally, days before parliamentary elections are due to take place. Cerny, known for his anti-communist stance, mounted a giant purple hand boasting an oversized middle finger on a float on the Vltava river in Prague on Monday. Pointing in the direction of Prague Castle, where the seat of of President Milos Zeman is located, the piece is allegedly aimed at the leftist leader himself, who supports a plan by the Social Democrats to introduce a minority government with support from the Communist Party. If the plan goes ahead, it will be the first time since the 1989 revolution that the Communist Party will have influence on the government.
