RV Crushed By Bridge

Hope this is not a repost. The driver of a 42-foot RV has been found not at fault in an accident where the front of his motorcoach was crushed by a drawbridge counterweight in Sturgeon Bay, WI. The Bayview Bridge was closed for repairs and traffic was detoured onto the Michigan Street bridge. Due to budget cuts the Michigan Street bridge no longer has a live bridge tender; instead the bridge is controlled by a bridge tender who operates three bridges remotely. The RV drove onto the bridge and stopped when the center of the bridge lifted for boat traffic. The RV driver is familiar with drawbridges in Florida and "stayed where he was at and thought that if he was in a bad spot, the bridge tender would have him move. The video from the bridge supports this statement and for this reason, no citations will be issued to the driver of this motor home." No one was injured in the incident.
