Germany: This is what a day of drinking at Oktoberfest does

As the first day of Oktoberfest 2014 came to an end Saturday, visitors were keen to express their love for the giant beer festival in Munich. Local police estimated that around 600,000 people attended Oktoberfest on the first day. Many visitors praised the German festival, in particular the beer and the women in attendance. However, Munich residents were more critical of it, saying it had become too commercial. Some also claimed that the beer goes flat quickly, so visitors drink faster. Between five to seven million visitors consume around 60,000 hectolitres of beer every year at Oktoberfest. The beer is served in a large glass called a "Mass", which holds one litre of beer. The site houses 14 large tents with seats for up to 10,000 people inside and outside. The tents are open from 10:00 (08.00 GMT) in the morning until 23:30 (21.30 GMT) at night.
