Lava flow comes to standstill outside Hawaii town

Slow flowing lava from a volcano in Hawaii appears to have come to a standstill around the rural town of Pahoa. The hot lava began bubbling out of a vent of the Kilauea volcano in June and has been moving at a rate of about four kilometres a month since then. It burns everything in its path and last week destroyed its first home. Residents in the town had been prepared to evacuate and had cleared out their homes just in case but it looks as though they can stay put for now. Kilauea has been erupting since 1983 and destroyed more than 180 homes. Officials say they don't know if the lava will start moving again.
