Rescuing a kitten trapped in the walls of an abandoned hospital

This poor guy got separated from his mother and fell between the walls in an abandoned hospital. I heard his sad, panicked cries for help when exploring with a friend and returned alone to get him out, since my friend was too nervous. I'm sure he would have died in there otherwise. I spent hours trying to find the kitten, since the sound seemed to be coming from the vents and all around, before finally realizing it was trapped in the walls not the vents. I got him out around 4am, with some trips in between to go get tools and finally a ladder. My hobby is exploring abandoned buildings, and I love to find interesting little mementos, but this guy was the best find ever. I was thrilled to save his life and find him a good home. He's healthy and well and now in foster care at animal humane awaiting adoption. I already have several rescued stray cats as pets, so I couldn't keep the little bugger, although I'd have loved to.
