Various Videos of the Second Avenue Building After Fire & Explosion


Following the explosion and fire at a building on Second Avenue, one avid videographer has taken a timelapse video of the scene from a distance. What is said to be a gas main explosion has rocked Manhattan's East Village today. It is being reported there are a number of injuries. The official FDNY twitter has described it as a building collapse. An explosion and a building collapse in New York's East Village has sent huge plumes of thick brown and grey smoke over the neighbourhood. The Fire Department of New York declared an emergency at the mixed-occupancy building at 123 Second Ave. It is believed an explosion rocked the building about 3.20pm local time spreading fire and smoke into apartments above. The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) reportedly arrived to find a sushi store on fire on the the lower level collapsed and smoke billowing throughout the five-storey building. Flames soon swept across the building and up to the roof, before spreading to a neighbouring building.
