Marble Quarries of Carrara Italy by drone

Brought my drone to Italy knowing I would be touring the quarries. From the town, these mountains look snow covered. After a very steep switch back road up to the quarries, the views are amazing and awesome. These quarries produce the most sought after marble in the world right now. Most notably Calacatta Gold and Statuary, known for their white backgrounds and grey and gold veining. Because the current design trends are focused on grey and white, the cost of this material has sky rocketed in the past 4 years. Now all the Arabs want it and are buying parts of the quarries to build mosques across the middle east. Stones from these quarries also include the name sake Bianco Carrara which is the most typical white/grey Italian marble. All sorts of variations on grey and white, and they extraordinary areas that have green and purple veins running throughout. Enjoy.
