Actually...they did find out why...and it wasn't the environment or pesticides...it was an infestation by varroa mites. It even made it so far as Hawaii. It is thought, though really just a guess, that the mite took out half the mainland population. However, they are already making a comeback...bees are insects and as such reproduce quickly. So...enjoy the honey, thank a bee, and ignore this old video.
