Must be entrainment, but what's the point of the soda cans?

:D that's awesome. I think the cans and board have a way of setting a neutral pace between the metronomes, so they eventually speed up or slow down the non-conforming metronomes to match the main pace.

It gives the base some flex so it acts like a rubber-band, taking energy from some metronomes adding it to others so that a standing wave can form. It could work just on the table but could take more time.

where did you get one of these?
