So it can clearly run itself, then. If you looped the energy produced back through with a generator/batteries, you'd collect a ton in the batteries, and still run the machine on it's own power... they should try that.

How about trying to use this principal to power personal vehicles?
You could actually make it run on water, it would produce it's own electricity.
The only thing that would take energy is starting the thing up.

With this, you can put the energy/motion created into an almost closed cycle. Energy would create motion, motion would create energy. Not quite a perpetual-motion device, but close. I think this system could power a car, even with using a traditional internal combustion engine.

I did a little thinking... I wonder if they counted the water going into the water-hammer as potential energy when they were calculating the total energy output. I would like to see the scientific research on this one.
