Unidentified creature showing up in Russian ponds and ditches


These things are turning up in Eastern Europe and Russia in fresh water ditches, lakes and underground streams. Can you identify it? It's not a horseshoe crab, freshwater, kinda seem mean as well. This one is small, but they are claiming up to 3 foot long (which I think is probably BS, but makes for a good story.)
