That's certainly cool, but not very educative nor time-efficient... One huge demonstration probably would have been enough.
He seems like one of those teachers that keep you amused but never actually *teach* you anything.
Maybe they just had time to kill so he thought of a fun experiment to do. Only judging by this movie it's kinda hard to tell if they're just killing time or if this is what they do on a regular basis.
Cool stuff though.
It looked like the last one kept burning on their hands
