Dash Cam Captures Bike Thieves

It was a case of insult being added to injury, after a Kansas City bicyclist got hit by a car, and then, as he lie bleeding on the street, thieves took off with his bike. Mike Hardy was riding near 30th and Holmes when he was struck by a vehicle, rolling up on the hood and then landing on the sidewalk with painful injuries to his knees. quot;At first I was like apos;Crap, I just got hit by a car, apos; so I didnapos;t feel anything, quot; said Hardy. quot;I was just in shock, and I started to get up and looked at my legs and started screaming apos;Oh my godapos;.quot; The dash cam on a police car that responded to the accident shows some men checking on him to see if heapos;s okay. A few minutes later, one of those men is seen walking off with Hardyapos;s bicycle. quot;Theyapos;re all huddled around me, and then later on it shows them taking the bike, quot; said Hardy. quot;Itapos;s bizarre.quot; quot;It was a pretty low thing to do,quot; said Hardy. Especially low, Hardy says, because this wasnapos;t just any bike, but a $1,200 bike heapos;d been building to use in races. The bike is white with red trim and hubs. Hardy says that he has his friends in the cycling community keeping an eye out for it. quot;It was a special bike because I put it together myself, and took a lot of time doing that, quot; said Hardy. In one final blow, the accident happened on Hardyapos;s 27th birthday. In fact, he says that he was on his way to have dinner with his girlfriend. Now, he says the best birthday present would be to get his bike back, but he also hopes everyone takes away a lesson about the importance of sharing the road. quot;If thatapos;s one thing I can stress is just be more aware of each other, quot; said Hardy.
