actually spiders are known to increase their heart rate up to 300x their norm for a courtship dance to attract a mate. Essentially its just flirting with itself.

...Wouldn't it think to wonder 'am I flirting with another spider of the same gender', or are spiders actually that stupid?
Somehow I find it hard to believe that something so bad at reproductive selection could have survived for so long...
Also:
This video is nice, but I was kind of waiting for someone to hit it with a newspaper. 'Cause that is one scary spider.
