A Boca Raton Police officer is credited with saving a young womanapos;s life after the vehicle she was a passenger in crashed and went up in flames. Officer Jimmy Jalil, Jr. responded to the crash on I-95 just north of the Spanish River Boulevard around 8 p.m. Wednesday night. Upon arrival Jalil learned the crash involved two people who had been ejected from the vehicle and a third person still trapped inside of the burning vehicle. Officer Jalil grabbed a fire extinguisher from his patrol car and gave it to a retired firefighter who was also on scene. The firefighter attempted to break the car window open with the extinguisher but after several attempts, officer Jalil talked with the woman, later identified as Brianna Motley of Lake Worth, and asked her to move as far away from the window as possible so he could shoot out the window with his gun. Jalil, along with the retired firefighter, was able to free her from the burning car. She was transported to Delray Medical Center in serious condition. The driver of the vehicle, identified as David Michael Mattheu of Boynton Beach, died at the scene. A rear seat passenger, Shawn Thomas of Boynton Beach, was ejected from the vehicle and remains in critical condition
