New Surveillance Video of Metrodome Roof Collapse

You will see a grounds crew member near the end zone in the lower left quickly return to a vehicle and race across the sideline to get out of the way just before the roof caved in. The snow plume that spilled on the field was where he was seconds earlier. Almost 1 week after the record December blizzard in Minneapolis snow cover has spread south an east to North Carolina. More than half of the nation can now relate to snow and ice on the ground, but still nothing compares to the dramatic footage of the Metrodome roof collapse that forced the Vikings to play their home game in Detroit last Sunday. Now surveillance video shows another view as the weight of 18 inches of snow was too much for the teflon roof. The grounds crew took to the air and tried to shovel and melt the snow, but it could not be done in time. Watch as the roof bent, tore, and caved in. This occurred just after 5 am on Sunday December 12th, and a few different cameras captured the scene. The most ominous is the second camera view around 1:40 into the video which is focused on the American flag as it is forced to sink down towards the field.
